Food Pantry in West Oakland, Lower Bottom

In our daily work with families in need in West Oakland, we at Prescott-Joseph have become increasingly aware of the tremendous need for a food pantry in the Lower Bottom of West Oakland. Previous food banks and pantries have closed (Women’s Economic Agenda Project((WEAP)), Catholic Charities, St. Patrick, Mt. Zion) or are operating marginally.

Philanthropic Ventures Foundation (PVF)

Bill Somervillle, President of PVF, offered Prescott-Joseph Center for Community Enhancement the opportunity to sign an agreement with PVF regarding availability of funding by PVF in the event of a major disaster. This was approved by our Board of Directors and we have signed the agreement. This is part of Prescott-Joseph’s efforts in Disaster Planning.
